Living For The Lotto

Updated: Apr 29, 2024

As I sat in my favourite coffee shop, hunched over my laptop, I couldn't help but notice the couple seated nearby. Now with no disrespect, a mere observation, they both looked a little rough around the edges. Unwashed hair, drab clothes, happy in their own reality no less. But what really caught my attention was how they were both fervently scratching at the silver on a lotto ticket, as if their lives depended on it.

Watching them, I couldn't help but be transported back to a time when I too felt like I was at the mercy of life's whims. A time when I didn't think I had what it takes to succeed, that I was too different or too flawed. But then something clicked.

I realised that waiting for luck to come my way was a fool's game. I knew I had to take matters into my own hands, to start swimming instead of just treading water. And that's when everything changed.

It wasn't an instant transformation, but slowly and surely, I started to make progress. Bit by bit, I began to take control of my life and work towards the things I wanted. And the best part? I didn't have to rely on a lucky lotto ticket to get there.
